Test policy

Hello students and parents,

Just a few pieces of info about quizzes and tests. 7th grade will receive their integer quizzes today. Overall the grades were very good! Students will continue to receive spirals covering integers, and I will put a few integer problems on tests, but otherwise we are moving on. At this point in the year, 7th graders should be comfortable and confident about integer rules. If they are not, I will be happy to send home extra practice sheets.

*All quizzes and tests, regardless of grade, must be signed by a parent and returned to school in two days.
*After I have checked the test for parent signature, students will keep the tests. They are to use these for further study, extra practice, review with parents/tutors, and most importantly, saved for exams.
*7th grade quizzes must be signed/returned to school by Monday, August 23rd.

Have a great weekend!

The week ahead...

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a great weekend! Week 2 is already here....

6th grade: Quiz this week, either Thursday or Friday (I will let you know date tomorrow in class) on Ch. 1 Sec. 1 - 4. We will keep working in Ch. 1 and will have a chapter test the following week. Don't forget that your spiral is due this Tuesday! Many of you have already turned those in-great job!  You will get Spiral #2 this Tuesday and it is due the next Tuesday.

7th grade: POP Quiz this week on integers (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing), beginning of the week. Unit 1 jumps around a bit...next we will pick up Ch. 1 Section 2, Order of Operations, then Ch. 1 Section 3, Variables and Variable Expressions, followed by Ch. 4 Section 8, Scientific Notation. After pop quiz you will have a Unit 1 test, date TBA (will be week of 8/23). Don't forget, spiral is due this Tuesday.

Both classes have done a great job this first week, I am so proud of you! Keep getting your homework done (using correct format) and asking those great questions. 5th hour---I'm hoping you are a bit more "lively" this week---- :)

Have a wonderful week! Let me know if you have questions, comments or concerns. lserpas@aloysius.org

Thursday, August 12th

Hello everyone,

I hope the week has been a good one so far! The first week of school can be tiring (for teachers too!)...so much information comes your way. Hang in there, it's almost Friday!

Just a reminder that spirals were passed out Tuesday and are due the following Tuesday, August 17th. They are due at the beginning of class, don't plan on finishing up a last problem or two in class; spirals should be completed Monday night. If you finish your spiral before Tuesday, you are welcome to turn it in early! Make sure you write your first and last name on the spiral and include your math number.

6th grade: we are working in Chapter 1, describing patterns. Quiz sometime next week, date TBA.

7th grade: We are going to finish up integers this week (ch. 2) and will go back to Ch. 1 (Order of Operations). Unit 1 is in 3 chapters--Integers & Absolute Value (Ch. 2), Order of Operations (Ch. 1) and Scientific Notation (Ch.4). POP QUIZ early next week on operations with integers...addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. 20 points! This is your warning!

If you have any questions, please let me know! You may email me any time lserpas@aloysius.org.
