Week of October 7th
Hi everyone,
I hope you enjoyed this fantastic weekend of beautiful fall"ish" weather and great football!
Info on the week ahead:
Spirals: Your children are correct- they have not had spirals to turn in the last two weeks. We reached 70 points for spirals, and I decided that was a good number for the nine weeks. I will pass out a spiral Wednesday to both 6th and 7th grade though it will still be due on Tuesday October 15th.
6th grade: Test Monday, 10/14 on 2.7, Converting metric units of measurement, and 3.1- mean, median and mode. Students must memorize "the (prefix) chart" - K H D u d c m and apply this for the test. Sample questions include types such as 3 m = ____ mm.
Students will be allowed to use their calculator for this test. 3.1- students must know the definitions of mean, median, mode, range (matching format), calculate these (calculators allowed) and answer questions about these.
7th grade: Test Friday, October 11th on 2.7, Distributive property (again) and 2.8 (Coordinate system). They must simplify expressions by combining like terms and using distributive property. 2.8- correctly label parts of the coordinate plane (x-axis, y-axis, origin, quadrants I - IV), label points given coordinates, give coordinates when points are graphed, and describe the points' location (which quadrant, x-axis or y-axis). We will be moving along in Chapter 3 - equations.
Have a great week!

Week of October 1st
Hello all,
Spiral 7 (due Tuesday 10/01) is the last spiral of the nine weeks. I have decided that the students have not yet had a break from spirals this nine weeks- and I would also like them to spend the "extra" time preparing for this week's chapter math tests.
6th grade: Test will be Wednesday, 10/2, test information posted below.
7th grade: Test will be Thursday, 10/3 test information posted below.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Serpas
