6th grade test info

6th grade has a test Wednesday, November 20th on Chapter 4 Sections 1 - 4. Test information listed below.

Chapter 4 Test (Sections 1-4)
6th grade math; Mrs. Serpas
Test is Wednesday, 11/20/13

I. Factors and Prime Factorization (4.1) pg. 157
       A. List all factors of a number
          B. Identify numbers as prime or composite; if composite, list 3 factors
          C. Write the prime factorization of a number (factor tree)

II. Greatest Common Factor (4.2) pg. 164
          A. Find GCF by listing factors
          B. Identify numbers as relatively prime (GCF = 1)
          C. Find GCF of two or more numbers using prime factorization (factor tree)

III. Simplifying Fractions (4.3) pg. 169
          A. Write fractions in simplest form
          B. Tell whether or not fractions are equivalent
          C. Write equivalent fractions

IV. Least Common Multiple (4.4) pg. 175
          A. Find LCM by listing multiples
          B. Find LCM using prime factorization
          C. Find LCM of two or more numbers using prime factorization (factor tree)


I am not testing you on divisibility rules; however, they are very helpful when factoring numbers so memorize them!

Week of November 11th

Hello all,

Hope you had a great weekend! 

6th grade: We are continuing in chapter 4- fractions, GCF and LCM. I have not yet set the next test date- will be after the fair. Keep working! Spiral 12 due Tuesday, 11/19.

7th grade: Test moved to Wednesday, information remains the same. We will start in Chapter 4 after the test - GCF, LCM, exponents. Spiral 12 due Tuesday, 11/19.

II. 3.3 Solving Two-Step Equations pg. 119
A.    Solve equations
B.     Use SCV: 1.) Change all Subtraction to adding the opposite before working problem 2.)  Get Constants on one side 3.) Solve for Variable

III. 3.4 Writing Two-Step Equations pg. 124
          A. Write and solve two-step equations (see ex. 1 & 2 pg. 124-125)

IV. 3.6 Solving Inequalities Using Addition & Subtraction pg. 140
A.    Graph inequalities (ex. 1 pg. 140)
B.  Solve inequalities (ex. 2 pg. 141)
C. Write inequalities (ex. 3 pg. 142)

V. 3.7 Solving Inequalities Using Mult. And Div. pg. 146
          A. Solve inequalities (ex. 1, 2) pg. 146-147
    Remember to ask yourself, “ Did I just multiply or divide by a
   negative number?” If the answer is yes, FLIP THE SIGN!

Hi everyone,

Hope you had a great weekend! We are taking the week off from spirals, so a spiral will not go home Tuesday 11/5. 

6th grade: We are continuing in Chapter 4, test Tuesday on prime factorization and greatest common factor. Review sheets were sent home. Spiral due Tuesday 11/5.

7th grade: We are continuing in Chapter 3. Test Tuesday 11/12 on two-step equations and inequalities.
