Week of December 17th
Hi everyone,
This is it- our last week before the Christmas break! I hope you all have a blessed Christmas with your family and friends.
6th grade: Quiz Tuesday:
**Renaming mixed numbers by borrowing from the whole number.
Ex: 10 and 2/3 becomes 9 and 5/3,
**Adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with common/uncommon denominators
**A few multiplication of fractions/mixed numbers
7th grade: Exams this week!
**Monday- 1st/3rd hour
**Wednesday- 5th hour
You need to bring loose leaf, pencil(s) and a free reading book or study materials to the exam. Calculators are not allowed for any part of the exam.
Those students that did not receive grade slips will receive them tomorrow (Monday). Remember that I dropped the lowest spiral grade. For some of you, that was a 0/10, others, an 8/10, etc. If you earned the same "low" score more than once (ex., 8/10, 8/10), I dropped the first one. You will know that grade was dropped by seeing an X in the possible points. Two bonus points given if you did not use your homework freebie, and you will see a separate column for bonus points for test corrections.
The exam is 57 questions- and is just like the study guide. There are a few corrections to the study guide- which were given in class Friday.
Have a wonderful week!

Oops I did it again!
Hi everyone,
I have switched to a new spiral format that I would like to try. This is the first time I have handed these out, and apparently I did not do a good job proof-reading.
They are due Tuesday but may turned in be on or before Friday for 1 bonus point.
A few notes:
6th & 7th grade: You will need to use a ruler to find distance of something measured in centimeters. I have many of these in my classroom.
6th grade Spiral: #2) I did not draw the shape before running off papers. Students are to copy shape down in class today.
#6) Please ignore/correct name typos in this problem (kids and kits). I certainly don't mean to state that kids should be packed in boxes :)
7th grade: Unless otherwise stated, always use 3.14 for Pi, do not use Pi key on calculator or 22/7.
Thanks y'all and see you at the fair!

Week of August 20th
Hi everyone,
I hope you are enjoying the weekend in spite of the dreary weather.
Both sections will have a major test this week, study sheets were passed out last week. I pass out these sheets before every major test, and they are super important! Students often feel that they don't know how to study for math tests. A key to preparing/studying for a math test is to WORK PROBLEMS.
Refer to these sheets and examples to work problems from these sections. You can always work odd problems and check the answers in the back of the book.
6th grade: Spiral due this Tuesday at the beginning of class. You will not have time to complete it during class. Make sure you have written your first and last name as well as your math number.
Test Wednesday, refer to handout.
Don't forget that homework is due tomorrow, this was assigned Friday.
7th grade: Spiral due Tuesday at the beginning of class. You will not have time to complete it during class. Make sure you have circled your class hour (typed in upper left hand corner of spiral), written first and last name and your math number.
Test Friday, refer to handout.
Have a great week everyone!

Hello everyone,
I hope you are enjoying the weekend!
I am looking forward to our first full/regular week. Hopefully everyone is settled in and will have a great week.
6th grade: We will continue in Chapter 1. You will have a quiz at the end of this week/beginning of next week on Chapter 1 Sections 1 - 4. I'll let you know as soon as the test date is set. Spiral 1 will go home this Tuesday and is due the following Tuesday, August 21st.
7th grade: You are doing a great job with integers! We will continue with integers (all operations) this week, expect a pop quiz soon on adding and subtracting. We will then begin in Chapter 1. Spiral 1 will go home this Tuesday and is due the following Tuesday, August 21st.

Week of May 7th
Hi everyone,
We're winding down! Hang in there!!!
Just a reminder that I will be out most of the week next week- and will be back at school mid-day Thursday. I will not have access to email while I am gone, please keep that in mind.
6th grade: Students need to bring calculators to class daily! Test is on Tuesday, May 8th. Review sheets went home this past week. Calculators allowed on the percent proportion part of the test only. Spiral due Tuesday, May 8th. Last spiral of the nine weeks will go out on the 8th and is due Tuesday May 15th.
7th grade: Study guides were passed out Friday. Due to a very busy schedule, some students were not in class. Extra study guides are on the back table of the classroom. Please read the directions carefully! I will have one homework check for these (it is not split into 3 as it was last semester), on Monday, May 14th- study guide is worth 15 points.
Most of the test grades from the most recent test (Volume of solids) were very good. I have decided to give one last opportunity for points- there will be a "graded activity" on Friday, May 11th covering functions and graphing linear equations (see Chapter 11 sections 1 and 4). This will be worth 20 - 25 points and will be completed in class.
Have a wonderful week everyone!!
