Week of 9/23

Hi all,

I hope you had a fabulous weekend!

Spiral Help: Several parents have inquired about getting spiral help for their children. Ms. Snaith, the middle school guidance counselor, will be available to help with/check over spirals on Thursdays during lunch and recess. Please remind your child about this, and we have also posted signs around the middle school building. I hope this will help take the pressure off some of you !

6th grade: Tests went home on Monday, and test corrections are due Thursday. Remember that all missed problems must be re-worked, and you must write a sentence explaining why you missed that problem.

Chapter 2 test- all sections- Tuesday, October 1st. This is a 100 point test. Spiral 7 due Tuesday, 10/01 also.

7th grade: Tests were passed back Monday. Overall the grades were very grade- I am pleased with this as partial credit was not given for this test on integers. Students must memorize and master the skill of integer rules and application, it is crucial to their success in this class as well as all other math classes that they will take. I sent home extra practice sheets with students who earned a D or F, and am happy to send those home with anyone else who might want extra practice.

Chapter 2 test, all sections, will be Wednesday, October 2nd. This is a 100 point test. Spiral 7 will be due Tuesday, October 1st.

Have a great week!

Week of 9/9

Hi everyone,

I hope you are enjoying the weekend! What a great win for the Tigers- and hopefully the Saints will have a great win today!

6th grade: Test tomorrow! Review information listed below. We still start in chapter 2, Decimals, on Tuesday. We will move through that quickly as it is a review. Spiral due Tuesday.

7th grade: No test this week. We are starting in Chapter 2- Integers, tomorrow. Check out the pictures posted below from Friday's activity. Great job with that! Spiral due Tuesday.

Have a wonderful week!

Math Lab- Area and Perimeter

The 7th grade students participated in a Math lab Friday. They measured the sides of figures using a tape measure, then calculated the area and perimeter of the figures. They were able to use both the formulas they learned, as well as problem-solving skills to calculate area and perimeter of irregular figures. They did a great job!
